The Billion Dollar Roundtable Inc. announced that Google has joined the top-level corporate advocacy organization that promotes supplier diversity excellence and best practices.
Google joins an exclusive group of U.S.-based corporations that attain $1 billion or more annually in Tier 1 supply-chain diversity spend, the threshold for BDR membership. Google spent nearly $1.5 billion with certified diverse-owned businesses in 2021, with the commitment to raise that to $2.5 billion in 2022.
The Billion Dollar Roundtable will honor Google at a formal induction ceremony today during its annual summit in Jersey City, N.J.
The Billion Dollar Roundtable, created in 2001, is a non-profit organization that comprises U.S. corporations that each spend $1 billion or more annually on a Tier 1 basis with diverse suppliers. The BDR recognizes and celebrates corporations that achieve this status and promotes and shares best practices in supply-chain diversity excellence. BDR member companies review and discuss issues, challenges and strategies related to supplier diversity as a means to advance supply chain opportunities for both corporations and diverse suppliers. The BDR is publisher of the title “Supplier Diversity Best Practices: Building Excellence to Improve the Supply Chain Matrix.”
“Google achieving membership in the Billion Dollar Roundtable presents a significant opportunity for accelerating the practice of supplier diversity. One of the world’s iconic brands, Google is a technology leader with innovative products, services and platforms used by millions, and its participation in the BDR will open up new supply chain possibilities for diverse suppliers,” said BDR chairman Shelley Stewart Jr.
“Google is committed to creating opportunities that have a meaningful impact for diverse communities,” said Jennifer Moceri, vice president of global procurement at Google. “Across Google, our teams have been working to bring our supplier diversity investments and commitments to life. From promoting strategic alliances that remove barriers to help diverse suppliers grow into new service areas, to providing easier access to working capital through accelerated payment terms and investing in mentorship and training through programs like the Google Tuck Digital Excellence program, we’re excited about the opportunities and innovation that we can bring to this space as we continue this journey alongside our suppliers.”
