ASCM (Association for Supply Chain Management)

ASCM is the global leader in supply chain learning, transformation, innovation and leadership. APICS Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM)

APICS CPIM is recognized worldwide as the standard of professional competence in planning and inventory management. APICS CSCP certification distinguishes a candidate as an industry expert in supply chain management. It is one of the most widely recognized certification programs and is also the most sought-after designation by many employers. APICS CSCP exams are offered at locations around the world.

The program focuses on improving a professional’s expertise in global supply chain management in areas such as customer relations, information technology enablement, logistics and international trade.

The APICS Certified in Transformation for Supply Chain (CTSC) demonstrates you have high-level skills in systems thinking; supply chain architecting; leadership; risk management, digital transformation and

in-depth knowledge to effectively develop and deploy a successful supply chain transformation and improve day-to-day operations.

The APICS CTSC program consists of four modules, including:

To keep your APICS certification valid, you must earn and submit 75 professional development maintenance points every five years (100 points for APICS Fellows).

Maintenance can be fulfilled with many of the educational activities you’re already doing to expand your supply chain knowledge and stay up to date on the latest supply chain trends. CSCMP’s SCPro Supply Chain Management Certification Program

The SCPro Supply Chain Management Certification is offered by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP). SCPro certification is a three-level certification process that validates a professional’s ability to assess business challenges and effectively implement improvements in the area of supply chain management.

Level One. Level one certification consists of eight modules and demonstrates a solid foundation of knowledge in all areas of supply chain management. In order to complete this level, candidates are required to have a bachelor’s degree or four years of relevant work experience.

Level Two. Level two certification covers the analysis and application of supply chain challenges. In order to be eligible for level two, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and three years of work experience or seven years of work experience along with level one certification.

Level Three. Level three certification requires candidates to perform hands-on analysis within a working environment and to create a detailed project plan that generates results such as an increase in ROI, cost reductions and improvements. To be eligible for level three, a candidate should have a bachelor’s degree and five years of work experience or nine years of work experience along with level one and level two certifications.

Candidates with all three levels of certification can demonstrate to an employer that they are well-versed with the most important concepts required to manage today’s supply chains.

Institute for Supply Management

ISM’s Certified Professional in Supply Management® (CPSM®) Program

With a community of more than 45,000 worldwide, the Institute for Supply Management is one of the largest global organizations focused on improving procurement and supply management. ISM has certified more than 60,000 procurement professionals in more than 30 countries worldwide. The Supply Management Program helps candidates become experts in critical areas of supply chain management such as sustainability, strategic sourcing and forecasting. The eligibility requirements for this exam are:

• three years of experience in supply chain management with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent;
• five years of supply chain management experience without a bachelor’s degree; and
• successfully pass three CPSM exams.

In order to earn this certification, candidates must complete in order the following three exams.

• Exam 1: Foundation of Supply Management
• Exam 2: Effective Supply Management Performance
• Exam 3: Leadership in Supply Management Preparation

ISM’s Certified Professional in Supplier Diversity® (CPSD®) Program

The Supplier Diversity Program (CPSD) is best for professionals who participate in the development of supplier diversity initiatives. The eligibility requirements for this exam are:

• pass the CPSD exam;
• Exam 1 for CPSD is waived if the candidate has CPSM certification;
• five years of experience in the area of supplier diversity or supply chain management;
• a bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in the area of supplier diversity or supply chain management.

Next Level Purchasing Association

NLPA SPSM Certifications

The Next Level Purchasing Association (NLPA) currently offers four certification levels that are open to supply chain professionals who are members of the NLPA. The SPSM program covers essential procurement skills and consists of six online purchasing courses and an exam that focuses on the most effective purchasing and supply management techniques, tactics, and strategies. Candidates have up to one year to complete the program, but it can be completed in less time.

Level 2, or the SPSM2 certification, is open to individuals who have earned the SPSM certification and covers global procurement management. The program consists of four online procurement courses and an exam.

Level 3, or the SPSM3 certification, is available to individuals who have earned the SPSM and SPSM2 certifications. The program is designed to help professionals master the skills to collaborate with other departments leading to even better results and a greater bottom-line impact. The program consists of four online procurement courses and an exam.

Level 4 covers social responsibility and strategic supplier diversity practices.

Sourcing Industry Group (SIG University)

CERTIFICATIONS OFFERED BY UNIVERSITIES

Apart from professional organizations, many U.S. universities offer certification and degree programs in the field of supply chain management. Here are some of the programs that universities nationwide are offering for supply chain, logistics and procurement professionals.

Air Force Institute of Technology

The Graduate Logistics and Supply Chain Management program provides students with the opportunity to learn and exercise state-of-the-art management knowledge and tools to solve defense acquisition and logistics problems. The curriculum includes courses in statistics, operations research, organization and management theory, inventory systems, transportation and strategic mobility, maintenance and production management, financial management, and economics. In addition, students have the opportunity to pursue an operational logistics, operational maintenance, petroleum management, lifecycle logistics, or nuclear logistics management track.

American Public University

Online Graduate Certificate in Logistics Management

This concentrated six-course online logistics certificate program provides a highly targeted focus on logistics and supply chain management with a heavy emphasis on transportation factors. Coursework includes an examination of the maritime industry, transportation policy and planning, transportation management and economics, and the role of logistics in optimizing supply chain management.

 

Arizona State University

Supply Chain Management Graduate Certificate

The certificate program in supply chain management is composed of courses with content that is tightly integrated and offers a comprehensive coverage of core topics in supply chain management. The intended audience for this 15-credit-hour certificate includes working professionals who have graduated from general management undergraduate or graduate business programs and wish to supplement their degrees with focused, graduate-level courses in supply chain management. Students are either relatively new to supply chain management and desire a foundational knowledge of supply chain management complexities or experienced supply chain management professionals who wish to update their knowledge regarding current thinking and best practices.

Online Certificate in Purchasing  

The certificate is for individuals who wish to gain a broad education in the principles of purchasing and procurement management. Those already in the field of procurement, as well as those anticipating a career change will benefit from this practical training taught by leading professionals currently employed in purchasing. Topics covered include cost-price analysis, negotiation, public sector procurement, legal and regulatory considerations, specification, standardization, supply, ethical issues, partnering, total quality procurement, and logistics. To earn the certificate, students must complete the five courses offered achieving an overall grade point average of 2.5 or better. The certificate must be completed within three years once the student has started the program.

Online Certificate in Supply Chain Management

The certificate is designed for those who wish to gain a broad education in the principles of supply chain management. Course topics include supply chain management, detailed scheduling and planning, material requirements planning, capacity requirements planning, inventory management, supplier planning, procurement, operations execution and control, production processes, quality incentives, inventory control, master planning of resources, forecasting, master scheduling, strategic management of resources, and integrating operating processes into the strategic plan. To earn the certificate, you must complete the five courses offered achieving an overall grade point average of 2.5 or better. California State University at Fullerton Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)

This online supply chain management course provides a holistic view of supply chain management and fully prepares students for the Certified Supply Chain Professional certification exam. You will learn how to translate the connection between the areas of planning, sourcing, manufacturing, and delivering into an integrated supply chain. By course completion, you will have a firm understanding of mitigation strategies, operationalize risk management practices, and how to implement cost reduction measures. This combination of skills will drive the efficiency of your supply chain and give you a competitive edge in the market. This is a 120-hour course that takes six months to complete.

 

California State University at Long Beach

Global Logistics Professional Online Professional Designation Program

The Global Logistics Professional (GLP) program provides a comprehensive curriculum to meet the educational goals of a range of different students, whether they’re exploring logistics for the first time or seeking continued professional growth. A hybrid schedule of online classes with in-person meetings offers a flexible learning experience to maintain a balance between personal, professional, and academic schedules while benefiting from interactive sessions with peers and mentors. The two separate courses can be completed in about four months, during which students concentrate on a case study based on the latest real-world industry trends and conditions. The program culminates in the online presentation of an Integrated Logistics Plan before a panel of industry experts.

 

Columbus State Community College

Supply Chain Management Certificate

Students gain an in-depth understanding of SCM principles in the areas of transportation and traffic management, strategic procurement, warehouse management, inventory management, international shipping, and import/export regulations. Courses for this certificate follow the guidelines and cover the content established by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professions (CSCMP), the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) and The North American Small Business International Trade Educators (NASBITE) in their certification exams. The program is completely online and encompasses 24 credit hours.

 

DePaul University

Logistics and Supply Chain Management Certificate Program

The Logistics and Supply Chain Management Certificate Program takes a broad view of the critical facets of supply chain management by expanding beyond internal company operations to include the supplier, the company and the end consumer. In this 17-week program, you’ll understand and manage the integration and coordination of activities within today’s increasingly complicated supply chains. Completing the program will also prepare you for the Association for Operations Management (APICS) Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) exam.

 

Georgia Institute of Technology

Distribution Operations Analysis and Design Certificate

This certificate is designed for distribution operations professionals, industrial engineers, systems analysts, supervisors, managers, and team leaders of warehouses, logistics and supply chain planners and leaders. All of the institution’s certificate programs must be completed within six years with most courses being offered in classroom locations nationwide for this in-classroom certificate program.

Health and Humanitarian Supply Chain Management Certificate

This certificate program is designed for practitioners in non-governmental organizations (NGOs), government, industry, and the military who are active participants in the health and humanitarian sectors. Practitioners seeking to build skills to improve decision-making in preparedness, response operations planning, and system design will also benefit.

Lean Leadership for the Supply Chain Professional Certificate

This is an online certificate program whose core focus is to build upon your knowledge of strategic and tactical implementation of the lean supply chain, and aims to build you into a lean leader. This course is designed for supply chain professionals, logistics professionals, material managers, production control managers, transportation managers, warehousing managers, lean leaders, and purchasing managers.

Procurement and Supply Management Leadership Certificate

This certificate is designed for supply chain and logistics professionals and managers across the entire supply chain (procurement, manufacturing, distribution, transportation, warehousing) who are interested in expanding their knowledge base and committed to professional advancement. The certificate prepares sourcing, planning, and procurement professionals to lead their companies in successfully navigating the complexities, risks, and rewards of the modern global sourcing environment.   

Supply & Demand Planning Certificate

This course focuses on defining, executing, and improving the sales and operations planning (S&OP) process. Participants will be introduced to the appropriate stakeholders of S&OP, the importance of S&OP to corporate performance, S&OP cadence, and the use of visionary technology to bring S&OP to the next level. Business cases are used to show concrete examples of companies where S&OP is effectively applied.

Supply Chain Management Certificate

The Logistics Leader Certificate prepares graduates for employment opportunities in the area of supply chain management, materials management, inventory management and distribution. This 4-month certificate program can be stacked and the earned credits can be applied towards a Logistics Management AAS Degree.

Supply Chain Fundamentals Certificate

This program aligns with Gartner’s Supply Chain Talent Attribute Model, an industry-recognized indicator of comprehensiveness. In addition, the school’s Supply Chain and Sustainability Center has more than 70 corporate members, which enables our program curriculum to be driven by best-in-class industry practices. This certificate can be completed completely online, with some options for on-campus courses.

Executive Certificate in Technology, Operations and Value Chain Management

The program is ideal for professionals who currently hold a position of senior manager or higher within a company. Candidates are required to complete four courses. The courses are classroom based and are two to five days in duration.

 MITx (MOOC)

MicroMasters® Program in Supply Chain Management

Gain expertise in the growing field of supply chain management through an innovative online program consisting of five courses and a final comprehensive exam. The MicroMasters Credential is an advanced, professional, graduate-level foundation in all aspects of supply chain management. Learners who earn the MicroMasters credential can then apply for an accelerated, on-campus, master’s degree program at MIT or other top universities. It represents the equivalent of one semester’s worth of coursework at MIT and covers all aspects of supply chain analytics, design, technology, dynamics and end-to-end supply chain management. Access to the videos, problems and other materials is free and open to anyone while certification requires a nominal fee.

 

Northeastern University

Supply Chain Management Graduate Certificate

The Supply Chain Management Graduate certificate is for professionals who wish to advance their careers in supply chain management as well as those anticipating a career change. Candidates must complete three core courses and two elective courses while maintaining a 3.0 GPA in order to earn this certificate. The certification can be completed in two semesters.

 

Penn State University

Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain Management (for-credit program)

The Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain Management provides candidates with the ability to develop supply chain solutions for their organizations while gaining an understanding of domestic and global supply chain networks. The certificate is designed for working logistics professionals; professionals with backgrounds in engineering, science and liberal arts are also accepted into the program. Courses are classroom-based and require candidates to complete four courses. The program can be completed in a span of two semesters.

The school also offers an MS in SCM, both in person and online. The graduate certificate is the first half of the MSSCM and can be leveraged into completing the MS.

Professional Certificates

Penn State also offers non-credit professional certificates by completing a series of three courses from a curriculum of our 16 short courses, plus the Professional Scholar and Executive Scholar certifications (These are non-credit certificates of completion) in seven areas: Strategy and Organizational Performance, Supply Chain Operations, Supply Chain Management, Supply Chain Leadership, Strategy and Organizational Performance–Emphasis in Supply Chain, Supply Chain Leadership–Emphasis in Organizational Performance, and a Custom Certificate option.

Participants choose from a curriculum of 16 short courses, offered at least twice a year, with more courses in development. Professional Scholars are those who earn any two professional certificates; Executive Scholars earn any three professional certificates.

This certificate provides a flexible, affordable pathway to leadership roles in the supply chain and logistics industries. Southern New Hampshire University

Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain Management  

The Operations and Supply Chain Management Graduate Certificate online at Southern New Hampshire University introduces students to key concepts, strategies and processes used in the production of goods, from securing raw materials to distributing them to customers. You’ll explore such areas as transportation planning, technology, inventory control, warehouse management, quality control and procurement, as you gain marketable skills in operations and supply chain management. You’ll need to complete 18 course credits: adding up to four required courses and two electives that you can choose from a list of graduate-level courses in Quantitative Studies and Operations Management. Some course options may include International Supply Chain Management and Six Sigma Quality Management.

 

St. Louis University

Integrated Supply Chain Management Program

SLU’s Integrated Supply Chain Management program offers comprehensive management development techniques and tools for professionals involved in inventory management, purchasing, warehousing/transportation, project management and lean principles in the supply chain pipeline. The program is offered in the fall and spring semesters.  

 

Stevens Institute of Technology

Logistics and Supply Chain Analysis Graduate Certificate

This certificate focuses on the theory and practice of designing and analyzing supply chains. It will provide quantitative tools to identify key drivers of supply chain performance such as inventory, transportation, information and facilities from a holistic perspective. This graduate certificate program has a “how-to” orientation and the understanding gained in the courses can be immediately applied to the solution of on-the-job problems. Candidates are required to complete five courses.

 

Towson University

Supply Chain Management Post Baccalaureate Certificate

This 15-credit graduate certificate offers graduates a competitive edge in analyzing and controlling activities across the supply chain. Through the graduate certificate in supply chain management, students gain a foundation in supply chain management through courses including introduction to SCM, operations management, and supply chain technologies. The certificate courses in the program are also the first five courses of Towson University’s M.S. in supply chain management, Maryland’s first master of science degree program in supply chain management.
